New Delhi, 07 October (H.S.): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) OBC Morcha national president Amar Pal Maurya has questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's allegations concerning the Election Commission of India. In a post on X, Maurya said Rahul Gandhi had levelled one allegation after another against the Election Commission, but the poll panel had placed the facts concerning his claims before the public.

Maurya said Rahul Gandhi's first claim was that the Chief Election Commissioner takes decisions single-handedly. Responding to this, he referred to the Election Commission's position that all three Election Commissioners had made it clear that decisions within the Commission are taken collectively.

He also questioned Rahul Gandhi's second claim. According to Maurya, Rahul Gandhi repeatedly alleged throughout the day that he was not being allowed to meet the Election Commission, whereas the Commission had made it clear that it had received no formal request for a meeting from the Congress or the opposition alliance.

Referring to Rahul Gandhi's third claim, Amar Pal Maurya said that at around 4 p.m., the Election Commission was informed through the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) that Rahul Gandhi wished to meet the poll panel. He said that, in accordance with the prescribed procedure, the Commission was immediately ready to meet him through representatives, but Rahul Gandhi was not willing to meet under that procedure.

Maurya questioned what new claim Rahul Gandhi and the Congress would now come up with after the Election Commission had already clarified the facts. Questioning the credibility of Rahul Gandhi's allegations, he said that after the facts had come to light, the Congress should answer to the people.
