
Amravati, 6 Oct (HS): The Amravati rural police have
busted a gang involved in large-scale financial transactions through online
gaming, betting and other financial transactions by misusing the bank accounts
of citizens. Based on the technical investigation, seven accused have been
arrested so far, including three from Pune. Preliminary financial
investigations have revealed cyber fraud transactions of about Rs 3 crore, the
police said.
Under 'Operation Kavach' under the guidance of
Superintendent of Police Niketan Kadam, special emphasis is being laid on cybercrime
investigation along with cyber awareness in Amravati district. Further
investigation of case no. 308 / 2026 registered at Shirjagaon Police Station
was handed over to Cyber Police Station, Amravati Rural. An in-depth analysis
of technical data and verification of bank transactions was carried out during
the investigation. It revealed that the chain of accused in the crime had
reached Pune. Subsequently, a team of Amravati Rural Cyber Police conducted a
raid at Anivi Heights, Yamunatai Pokhale Nagar in Dhayari area of Pune and
arrested the three accused.
The arrested have been named Bhushan Subhashrao
Mandale (23), Roshanand Raju Mandale (28) and Ankit Vilasrao Masale (26).
During the operation, the police seized goods worth about Rs 4.40 lakh
including 24 mobile handsets, four laptops, 29 ATM cards of different banks, 13
cheque books, seven passbooks and SIM cards of 12 companies. Preliminary
investigation of the seized mobiles and laptops has revealed the use of digital
media for financial transactions related to online gaming and betting. Digital
and forensic analysis of these devices is underway to identify other persons
involved in the crime, the chain of financial transactions, and the
beneficiaries.
