Odisha Yatri to Showcase Digital Mobility and Citizen Safety Innovations at UMI 2026

Bhubaneswar, 06 October (H.S.): Odisha Yatri, the state’s technology-enabled mobility platform, will showcase its expanding mobility ecosystem and citizen-centric digital innovations at the 19th Urban Mobility India (UMI) Conference & Expo 2026, being held in Bhubaneswar under the theme “Urban Accessibility & Liveability in the Digital Age.”

Odisha is the first state in eastern India to host the annual flagship event of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). The conference brings together policymakers, urban transport professionals, technology and service providers, practitioners and experts to exchange knowledge, share best practices and explore innovative solutions for sustainable urban mobility.

A key highlight of Odisha Yatri’s participation will be its integrated Safety Module, which brings mobility and citizen safety services together on a single state-owned digital platform. The module has been integrated with Odisha Police and the national emergency response system, 112, making Odisha the first state in the country to offer such integrated mobility and safety services through a state-owned platform.

Available on both iOS and Android, the Safety Module offers 11 integrated safety features, including Shake to Alert, alarm, location sharing and emergency contact facilities. Its One-Tap SOS feature connects users directly to the national emergency helpline 112. The module has so far been rolled out to around 1.86 lakh users.

Odisha Yatri has also registered significant growth in its mobility operations, completing 10 lakh trips with 6.34 lakh registered users and 18,600 enabled drivers across five cities. The platform has generated ₹15.5 crore in earnings for drivers through its 100 per cent pass-through model, under which no commission is retained and the entire fare amount reaches the drivers.

The platform recorded its highest monthly performance in January 2026, when 60,000 trips were generated from 3.28 lakh ride searches, indicating growing public adoption of technology-enabled mobility services.

Beyond conventional ride-hailing, Odisha Yatri is expanding into a wider mobility ecosystem. The platform currently facilitates Ama Bus services in four cities and boating services at Satapada in partnership with the Dolphin Boat Association.

The integration of mobility and safety services is aimed at making technology-driven public services more accessible and responsive. Features such as emergency alerts, location sharing and SOS assistance enable the platform to support citizens not only in their routine mobility requirements but also during emergencies.

Hosting UMI 2026 gives Odisha an opportunity to present its emerging mobility solutions before national and international stakeholders. Odisha Yatri’s participation will highlight the potential of digital technology and citizen-centric innovation in creating safer, more accessible, inclusive and liveable cities.

The evolution of Odisha Yatri reflects the state’s broader vision of leveraging technology to improve everyday public services and strengthen citizen-centric governance. From facilitating seamless mobility to integrating emergency safety services, the platform is emerging as a broader digital ecosystem centred on citizens’ needs.

The initiative also aligns with the larger vision of Viksit Odisha and Viksit Bharat, with technology and innovation serving as key enablers of inclusive, sustainable and people-centric urban development.
