Prayagraj, 6 Oct (HS):

North Central Railway (NCR) has registered a record-breaking performance

in freight loading during the first half (April to September) of the current

financial year 2026–27. During this period, NCR successfully loaded a total of

10.84 million tonnes (MT) of freight, which is 8.1 percent higher compared to

the 10.03 million tonnes achieved during the corresponding period of the

previous financial year 2025–26.

At the overall Indian Railways (IR) level, a growth of 4.1

percent was recorded during the same period compared to last year. Thus, North

Central Railway proved its excellence in the freight transportation sector by

achieving nearly double the average growth rate of Indian Railways.

In line with business expansion and attracting new revenue

streams, NCR successfully captured new freight traffic during this period.

Under this initiative, a new loading of 0.11 million tonnes was achieved by

loading 28 rakes of dolomite from Maharaja Chhatrasal Station Chhatarpur

(MCSC), and 0.05 million tonnes was achieved by loading 12 rakes of iron ore

from Biora (BWR) station.

Additionally, NCR registered remarkable growth in traditional

and major freight commodities. Record increases were recorded in the loading of

foodgrains by 51.7%, ballast by 19.6%, container loading by 11.9%, cement

loading by 6.9%, and fly ash loading by 5.2%.

This consistently aggressive and superior performance of

North Central Railway reflects efficient freight operation management,

excellent wagon rotation, and optimal utilization of infrastructure, leading to

a substantial boost in railway revenue.
