
Guwahati, 06 October (HS): Polling for the Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election began at 7 am on Tuesday, with 56.35% voter turnout recorded till 1 pm. The Nagaon parliamentary constituency, spread across Nagaon and Morigaon districts of Assam, witnessed peaceful polling, with no untoward incident reported so far.
According to the Election Commission, Dhing recorded 57.01 % turnout, Jagiroad 58.13 %, Lahorighat 61.48 %, Morigaon 55.61 %, Nagaon-Batadroba 47.07 %, Raha 51.70 %, Rupohihat 57.97% and Samaguri 58.81 %.
The constituency has 19,02,009 registered voters, comprising 9,58,595 men, 9,43,364 women and 50 third-gender voters.
A total of 2,112 polling stations, including five auxiliary polling stations, have been set up for the by-election. The arrangements include five model polling stations and 335 women-managed polling stations. As many as 9,664 polling personnel have been deployed to ensure the smooth conduct of polling.-----------
