New Delhi, 06 October (H.S.): Northern Railway organised Safety and Quality Improvement Camps in the Firozpur and Ambala divisions to ensure safety, quality and better coordination at worksites during the upgradation of 2×25 kV electrification works.

The Firozpur Division conducted the camp in Jalandhar, with 123 personnel from the Railways, project units and the Traction Distribution (TRD) department participating in the programme. The camp provided practical training on safety precautions and quality inspections to be followed during foundation casting.

In the Ambala Division, a camp was organised focusing on the upgradation of Overhead Equipment (OHE) and power supply installations on the Delhi Junction–Ambala Cantt and Sahnewal–Saharanpur sections. A total of 131 participants, including 119 employees and 12 officers, took part in the programme.

Both camps placed particular emphasis on the safe operation of cranes, JCBs and excavators near railway tracks, the protection of track and signalling and telecommunications systems, and safe train operations.

During the training sessions, participants were briefed on safety and quality requirements related to foundation casting, mast erection, alignment, grouting, feeder-wire installation and the laying of buried earth conductors. Employees were also trained in precautions to be observed during adverse weather conditions, emergency response, accident reporting and rescue procedures.

Through these initiatives, Northern Railway aims to ensure that infrastructure upgradation works are executed safely, with high standards of quality and in accordance with prescribed norms, while further strengthening the safety culture among railway personnel.
