New Delhi, 06 October (H.S.): The Union Cabinet has passed a resolution honouring Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of his completing 25 years as head of government, first as Chief Minister of Gujarat and subsequently as Prime Minister of India. Modi is completing 25 consecutive years at the helm of government from October 7, 2001, to October 7, 2026.
Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw shared the information at a press conference at the National Media Centre on Tuesday. He said Prime Minister Modi’s 25 years of public service were a testament to the strength and vibrancy of Indian democracy.
The minister said that the fact that a person from an ordinary family could dedicate himself to serving the nation and receive the continued support of the people was a significant example of the strength of Indian democracy. He said Modi had earned public support on account of his style of governance, policies and intentions.
Vaishnaw said the massive mandates received by Modi in three elections in Gujarat and the historic support secured by him in three consecutive Lok Sabha elections as Prime Minister were symbols of this trust. He said that over the past 25 years, Modi had expanded his vision of development from Gujarat to the national level.
Highlighting the key points of the Cabinet resolution, Vaishnaw said it underscored aspects such as sensitivity and empowerment, advancing reforms, building an Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India), using technology as a means of making citizens’ lives easier, and taking decisive policy decisions.
Vaishnaw said that during the tenure of the Modi government, several significant measures had been undertaken, including bringing more than 25 crore people out of poverty, implementing the Goods and Services Tax (GST), and abrogating the provisions of Article 370. He also listed the development of infrastructure among the government’s major achievements.
The resolution also highlighted efforts to enhance the nation’s self-confidence, strengthen internal and external security, and amplify India’s voice on the global stage. He said India was now being viewed as a credible and trusted country.
The minister said that alongside development, carrying forward the country’s heritage and its sense of responsibility was also among the defining features of Prime Minister Modi’s 25 years in public life.
