Mumbai, 06 October (H.S.): Ranbir Kapoor-starrer ‘Ramayana’, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, has been in the spotlight even ahead of its release. Prakash Mahobiya, producer of ‘Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha – Shri Ram Ki’, starring Anjali Arora, has alleged that a sustained negative marketing campaign was carried out against his film, preventing it from getting a fair opportunity to reach audiences in theatres. He claimed that those who watched the film appreciated it. The producer also said that he is planning to re-release the film in theatres.
Speaking in an interview, Mahobiya alleged that negative publicity against his film was generated through YouTubers, influencers and others. According to him, misleading information about the film was circulated on social media, and people were even urged not to watch it. He said the film did not get a fair opportunity to reach audiences and that it was inappropriate to form an opinion about it without watching it. However, he did not directly name any particular individual or team as being behind the alleged campaign.
When Mahobiya was asked whether he was accusing the team behind Nitesh Tiwari and Namit Malhotra’s ‘Ramayana’ of being responsible for the alleged campaign, he said he did not have definite information to that effect, but had been told that this was the case.
Directed by Abhishek Singh, ‘Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha – Shri Ram Ki’ stars Anjali Arora, Dev Sharma and Rajniesh Duggall in key roles. The film was released in cinemas on September 25 in Hindi and Chhattisgarhi. It was produced by Prakash Mahobiya and Sanjay Bundela.
According to Mahobiya, the makers are now preparing to bring the film back to the big screen and give audiences another opportunity to watch it.
