Bhubaneswar, 06 October (H.S.): The Odisha Vigilance Department on Tuesday arrested Arvind Mohanty, Executive Engineer (EE) of the Betnoti R&B Sub-Division under the Baripada R&B Division, in connection with a disproportionate assets (DA) case.

Mohanty will be produced before the Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada, later on Tuesday.

The arrest followed searches conducted by the Vigilance Department on Monday at multiple locations linked to Mohanty, during which assets allegedly disproportionate to his known sources of income were unearthed.

The assets detected during the searches reportedly include two multi-storeyed buildings, a farmhouse spread over five acres, 23 high-value plots, around 300 grams of gold, bank deposits amounting to approximately Rs. 69.69 lakh and a four-wheeler.

The Vigilance officials have so far recovered Rs. 10,57,500 in cash during the searches. This includes Rs. 2.50 lakh recovered on Tuesday from Mohanty’s residence at Balianta in Bhubaneswar.

According to the Vigilance Department, Mohanty failed to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the possession of the assets in relation to his known sources of income.

In this connection, Balasore Vigilance Police Station Case No. 25/2026 has been registered under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Further investigation into the case is underway.
