(HS): Maharashtra legislators can use their local area development fund for
works for handing drought related works. The decision was taken by the Planning
Department of the State Government on Monday.
The financial
limit for each work has been restricted to Rs 25 lakh. Maharashtra has 288 MLAs
and 55 MLCs. The State Government has officially announced drought in 265
talukas across Maharashtra.
The works
permitted include temporary piped water supply, providing new taps and
connections, repair of pipelines, water tanks deepening and desilting, sinking
new wells. Rejuvenation of existing wells etc.
The order also
allows shed for Gaushalas and ensure water supply, purchase of medicines and
related material for clean drinking water.
