Mumbai, 06 Oct (HS): Chief Minister Devendra

Fadnavis alleged that Congress is trying to defame his colleagues and

Constitutional bodies. The party is systematically trying to weaken the

democratic institution.

Fadnavis was talking to the media in Mumbai after

the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday. People are being misled by projecting that the

Constitutional bodies cannot work and cannot deliver justice to them, he

alleged. There is possibility that attempt to dissolve the Constitution can be

made. The political issues would be replied in the same manner, he added.

Fadnavis denied charges against the police for

misusing powers against tribal students. The demands of the students were

genuine and they celebrated in Nashik after their demands were conceded.

However, NSUI is trying to continue with the agitation.

MPSC Chairman’s resignation demand

Referring to demand for removal of MPSC

Chairperson, Fadnavis said that power is vested with the President of India.

Congress and its associates are staging agitation using the students. The

present Chairman was not holding the office when the MPSC paper leak was

detected. The State Government has requested the Governor to initiate enquiry

into the paper leakage case.

Pune Teachers Constituency:

The Chief Minister said that discussion to

resolve the discontent between BJP and Shiv Sena candidates is in progress. The

final decision will be taken after the discussion. Presently candidates of both

the parties have been allowed to file the nomination papers.

Handling Drought situation on priority:

Handling the drought situation is at the top on the Government’s list.

Priority is given for making available drinking water to human beings and

animals being planned. Agricultural operations will be planned using the

remaining water. The district-level committees can submit proposals or

suggestions for water management depending upon the situation in their

particular regions, Fadnavis said.

The committee by the Central Government is expected to visit the state

during October 6 and 8, and review the situation on October 11. It will submit

its observations to the Centre for the action.
