Lucknow, 5 Oct (HS): CM

Yogi Adityanath shared on X in support of the Election Commission's Special

Intensive Revision (SIR) effort, asserting its importance for bolstering India's

democratic legacy and national security by locating and eliminating unlawfully

included or fictitious names from voter rolls. He condemned opposition parties

for causing confusion or voicing objections to the SIR process, asserting they

depend on these irregular votes in elections. In virtual and online evaluation

meetings with party officials, MPs, and MLAs, he emphasized that public safety,

administrative oversight, and accurate voter rolls are essential priorities,

cautioning local representatives to regard fieldwork earnestly.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi

Adityanath has robustly supported the Election Commission of India's (ECI) Special Intensive Revision

(SIR) of voter lists, urging all young citizens who have reached 18 to sign up

as voters. Chief Minister Yogi

Adityanath expressed on social media platform X that it is essential for India's security, unity, and integrity to eliminate

names of the deceased, those

permanently relocated, and duplicate

or illegally added entries from

the voter list.

He encouraged all young citizens

who have reached 18 years of age

to promptly register their names on the electoral rolls to help create a clean and clear voter list. The ECI's second phase of SIR has ignited nationwide discussions and protests against it, with a reported extensive

verification and removal procedure impacting draft lists in Uttar Pradesh.

“India has been the guardian of democratic values for ages. The

Special Intensive Revision (SIR) conducted by the Election Commission of India

is a vital effort to further strengthen its democratic heritage. The systematic

verification of deceased, permanently shifted, and duplicate entries is

essential. All conscious voters should note that identifying and removing

ineligible names illegally entered in the voter list, in accordance with the

rules, is imperative for India's security, unity, and integrity. My appeal is

that every young friend who has completed 18 years of age must get their name

added to the voter list. Let us become partners in building a pure, empowered,

and transparent voter list,” he remarked in a post on X.
