New Delhi, 05 October (H.S.): Experienced pace bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar will captain the Indian team at the upcoming Hong Kong Sixes 2026. The tournament will be held from October 30 to November 1.
Besides Bhuvneshwar, India’s squad comprises Krunal Pandya, Shashank Singh, Rahul Tewatia, Nitish Rana, Rahul Tripathi and T. Natarajan.
The Hong Kong Sixes is a fast-paced six-a-side format in which players have little time to settle into their rhythm. Matches are high-scoring and played at a rapid tempo, with an emphasis on attacking cricket. Batters are encouraged to play their shots freely, while every player is expected to contribute across all departments, including bowling and fielding.
India will return to the Hong Kong Sixes determined to put up a stronger performance. India began its 2025 campaign with a two-run victory over Pakistan under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method, but its campaign subsequently ended with defeats in the following matches.
Pakistan will enter the 2026 edition as the defending champion. Last year, Pakistan defeated debutants Kuwait in the final to claim a record sixth Hong Kong Sixes title.
In this edition, eight leading cricket nations, along with four associate-member countries, will participate. The three-day tournament will showcase the excitement of fast-paced and attacking cricket at the Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground.
