
Imphal, 05 October (HS): Security forces and police have arrested seven Rebels of the proscribed PREPAK (PRO) in separate operations in Manipur, including a minor, for their alleged involvement in recruitment activities and a bomb blast at the residence of a Kongthoujam Assembly constituency MLA in August this year.
According to an official statement issued by the Manipur Police Headquarters on Monday, teams of CDO-Imphal West conducted search operations at various locations on Sunday based on credible intelligence. The operations targeted cadres allegedly involved in recruiting new members for the banned outfit and the August 2026 bomb blast.
The arrested persons have been identified as Usham Rakesh Singh alias Jenresh alias Thouba (19), Yumnam Athoibi Chanu (19), RK Dayapati Devi alias Pinky alias Kitchenbi (19), Ahongshangbam Jet Meitei alias Jack (23), Naorem Lanthoiba Singh alias Sana alias Thoichanba (19) and Ayekpam Stephen Meitei alias Alex alias Yekchetpa (19).
During the operation, a child in conflict with law (CCL) was also apprehended. Police said Yumnam Athoibi Chanu and RK Dayapati Devi were allegedly involved in the bomb blast at the Kongthoujam MLA's residence on August 28, 2026.
A yellow Honda Activa 6G scooter bearing registration number MN-01AJ-4957 was also recovered during the operation. Police further said that a minor was prevented from being recruited into the proscribed organisation.
The arrested persons and the seized material were handed over to Lamphel Police Station for further legal action, police said.------------
