Mumbai, 05 October (H.S.): Actor Sanjay Dutt has found himself at the centre of a controversy over his recent remarks. During a conversation on Shekhar Suman’s show ‘Shekhar Tonight’, he had said that he no longer feels the same sense of peace in India as he once did. His comments drew criticism and trolling on social media. Amid the growing controversy, the actor has shared a post on social media explaining the context of his remarks.

Sanjay Dutt said that he had absolutely no intention of hurting, insulting or disrespecting the sentiments of any individual, community or institution. He clarified that his comments were part of a pre-planned conversation intended to create a light-hearted and humorous atmosphere.

Linking his remarks to the humour and satire portrayed in films such as ‘Munna Bhai’, the actor said his reference was to the philosophy of ‘Gandhigiri’, which conveys a message of love, warmth, unity and goodwill.

During the show, Sanjay Dutt had said that the people of India are very loving and that there should be an atmosphere of peace in the country. It was during this conversation that he remarked, “I don’t feel that peace in our country anymore.”

His statement prompted a range of reactions on social media. In his clarification, the actor has now said that his words were interpreted separately from the context in which he had made them. He reiterated that he had no intention of hurting anyone’s sentiments.
