New Delhi, 05 October (H.S.):
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as usual, shared a beautiful Sanskrit verse on X this morning as part of his ‘Subhashitam’ series. Through the verse, he highlighted seven virtues that define an exceptional human being.
The verse reads:
“शुचित्वं त्यागिता शौर्यं सामान्यं सुखदुःखयोः।
दाक्षिण्यं चानुरक्तिश्च सत्यता च सुहृद्गुणाः॥”
The verse is taken from the renowned Sanskrit work Hitopadesha.
The meaning of the verse shared in Prime Minister Modi’s post is: “Purity of heart, a spirit of sacrifice, courage, equanimity in happiness and sorrow, wisdom, affection and truthfulness are not merely the qualities of an ordinary friend; they are the hallmarks of a person with a generous heart and an exceptional personality.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message is significant in several respects. It reminds us that human beings are regarded as the most evolved creatures in the world. Human excellence is determined by thought, discernment and conduct. No other creature possesses an intellect comparable to that of human beings. In this sense, the human thought process is unique, making human beings distinct and exceptional.
