Lucknow, 5 Oct (HS): Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of Uttar

Pradesh has penned a special

'Pati' (letter) to the citizens

of the state for the occasion of

Pitru Paksha. In this letter, he primarily expressed

the following points:

Reverence for forebears: Characterizing Pitru Paksha as a perspective intertwining

the past and the future, a call has been issued to honor the toil,

sacrifices, and legacies of our

ancestors.

Context of Aurangzeb and Shahjahan: He recounted

the story of Aurangzeb atthe Agra Fort, explaining

how Aurangzeb forced his father Shahjahan to long for water, even though Shahjahan

had mentioned in a letter, referencing the Sanatan custom, that even the deceased are provided water here.

Valuing heritage and elders: Rather than merely recalling our cultural background,

the focus is on applying it actively and honoring the senior members of the family.

Health and Cleanliness Emphasis: In connection

with the Communicable Disease Control Campaign taking place from 1st to 31st October and the

Dastak Campaign from 12th to 31st October in the state, it is recommended to uphold cleanliness, prevent water stagnation, and pay attention

to symptoms of fever.

Post penned by UP CM on X, reads as follows: “My esteemed

fellow citizens of the state, Our great eternal culture is not merely a

tradition of remembering the past, but a life perspective that connects the

past to the present and the present to the future. Pitru Paksha is an occasion

to express this eternal sentiment. During these days, through the rituals of

shraddha, we remember our ancestors and, by performing tarpan, express our

gratitude toward them. It is also our duty to carry forward the legacy of a

healthy and secure life received from our ancestors. Our government is

continuously working toward a healthy and secure future for every family in the

state. Let us make cleanliness a part of our daily routine, ensure that bushes

do not grow around us, prevent waterlogging, take symptoms like fever

seriously, and turn 'Dastak' into a campaign for health awareness in every

home. The dream of a developed Uttar Pradesh will be realized only through

healthy families and a healthy society.”
