Pune, 05 Oct (HS): Bharatiya Janata
Party-led mega alliance is facing problems of rebellion in Pune and Nagpur. The
elections from Graduates and Teachers constituencies to the Legislative Council
are scheduled to be held for five seats in Maharashtra on October 23.
The mega alliance has declared Dr Smita
Yogesh Jadhav (BJP) as its official candidate from the Graduates constituency
in Pune, while former MLA Sudhakar Kole of BJP is the candidate from Nagpur.
BJP’s Kaustubh Gawde is official candidate from Teachers constituency in Pune.
Meanwhile, rebellion candidates are also
preparing for the elections in Pune and Nagpur as independent candidates.
Former MLC Anil Sole has filed nomination as an independent candidate from Nagpur
Graduates constituency.
BJP State Unit President Ravindra Chavan
said that the rebellions will be convinced to withdraw their names. Senior party
leaders are working in this directions.
Sole was denied ticket in the last
election, when Congress candidate wrested the seat from BJP. BJP’s Sandip Joshi
faced humiliating defeat at the hands of Abhijit Wanjari of Congress. Wanjari
has been nominated by Congress again. BJP lost elections in the Graduates
constituency for the first time. Joshi is close to Chief Minister Devendra
Fadnavis, while Sole is Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s close associate.
