
Bhubaneswar, 05 October (H.S.): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday forecast thunderstorm activity accompanied by lightning and gusty winds across several parts of Odisha during the next four days, with the weather activity likely to continue till October 9.
According to the latest forecast, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds reaching 30-40 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over several districts during the period.
For the 24-hour period till 8.30 am on October 6, the IMD has issued a thunderstorm warning for 20 districts — Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Subarnapur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir and Kandhamal.
On Day 2, from 8.30 am on October 6 to 8.30 am on October 7, thunderstorm activity is likely to be concentrated over northern and southern interior Odisha. The districts likely to experience the weather activity include Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri.
The IMD has forecast widespread thunderstorm activity on Days 3 and 4, with several districts likely to experience lightning and gusty winds.
From October 7 to October 9, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph are very likely at one or two places over a large number of districts, including Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Subarnapur, Boudh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Nayagarh.
