Bongaigaon (Assam), 05 October (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday inaugurated five public welfare projects worth around ₹711 crore during his visit to Bongaigaon, including the newly constructed Integrated District Commissioner’s Office and the Bongaigaon Medical College and Hospital.

The Chief Minister arrived in Bongaigaon from Guwahati by helicopter and first inaugurated the newly constructed Integrated Bongaigaon District Commissioner’s Office at Jelkazar in the town.

Health Minister Ashok Singhal, State Disaster Management Minister Keshab Mahanta, Bongaigaon district guardian minister Ashwini Rai Sarkar, Barpeta MP Phani Bhushan Choudhury, and MLAs Diptimoyee Choudhury and Bhupen Rai were present on the occasion.

Sarma later formally inaugurated the Bongaigaon Medical College and Hospital, constructed at an estimated cost of ₹610 crore, and dedicated the facility to the people.

Addressing a public meeting at the medical college premises, the Chief Minister also virtually unveiled a 17-foot statue of Maharaja Nara Narayan at Bongaigaon Bisarjan Ghat.

He also virtually inaugurated Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Adarsha Mahavidyalaya at Tulunga, an Adarsha Madhyamik Vidyalaya at Birjhara Tea Estate, an Adarsha Residential School at Kasarigaon-Khoragaon in Abhayapuri, and the Raghunath Vigraha Mandir Satra at Srijangram in Abhayapuri.

Security arrangements were strengthened across Bongaigaon ahead of the Chief Minister’s visit.-----------
