Hyderabad, 05 October (H.S.): GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL) has received the 'National Energy Leader' Award for the eighth consecutive year at the 27th CII National Awards for Excellence in Energy Management 2026, reaffirming its recognition for sustained energy management and conservation efforts.

GHIAL was also recognised as an 'Excellent Energy Efficient Unit' for the tenth consecutive year. The awards recognise organisations for progress in energy efficiency, energy management and sustainable practices.

The 27th edition of the CII National Awards for Excellence in Energy Management was held in Hyderabad from September 16 to 18, with participation from more than 700 companies from across the country.

Hyderabad Airport has focused on integrating energy efficiency and sustainability into its operations through energy conservation measures, renewable energy, innovative technologies and operational practices aimed at optimising energy consumption.

GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd CEO Kadhir Kadhiravan said sustainability was an integral part of the airport's operations and that its focus on energy efficiency was driven by the need to combine responsible growth with a seamless passenger experience.

He said the airport had continued to invest in energy-efficient technologies, renewable energy and smarter operational practices to optimise resource consumption and improve efficiency across its operations.
