New Delhi, 05 October (H.S.):

Dalit activist and PhD scholar Dr Rohini Ghavari has approached the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi seeking registration of an FIR against MP Chandrashekhar Azad, alleging exploitation and demanding legal action. During the proceedings, she raised serious questions over the functioning of the police and alleged that despite repeatedly approaching the authorities, her complaints had not been properly heard.

Speaking to the media, Dr Ghavari said, “My legal battle began on August 6, 2025, and around 18 months have passed since then. When an incident happens to you, you turn to the law for recourse. The daughters of this country have complete faith in the law and the justice system. I have come to court even today with the hope that my voice will be heard.”

Dr Ghavari said she had returned to India after leaving behind an established career in Switzerland in the hope of securing justice. She said she believed that by living among her own people and presenting her case before the court, she would receive a fair hearing. She alleged that instead of taking her complaint seriously, the Delhi Police harassed her. According to her, she was made to remain at the Sansad Marg Police Station for 12 consecutive hours.

She further alleged that she was subjected to similar treatment at the airport police station and that no concrete action was taken on her complaint.

Dr Ghavari said that even after the matter reached the court, the police had continued to seek adjournments. She said the court had already granted the police three extensions and that, during Monday’s proceedings as well, the police again sought additional time.
