New Delhi, 05 October (H.S.): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday launched a cashless medical facility for 50,000 pensioners and family pensioners of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB). The initiative was launched at the Kedar Nath Sahni Auditorium under the Seva Sankalp campaign.

She said that earlier, beneficiaries had to pay for treatment out of their own pockets and undergo a lengthy reimbursement process. Under the new cashless system introduced by her government, they will no longer have to worry about making payments at the time of treatment or running from office to office with paperwork, she said.

The Chief Minister said that it was the government's responsibility to ensure that people who had devoted the important years of their lives to serving Delhi did not have to worry about medical expenses in their later years. Under the new arrangement, emergency, planned and non-emergency treatment, as well as medical tests, will be available on a cashless basis at empanelled hospitals.

Delhi Water Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh, Delhi Jal Board Vice Chairman Satish Upadhyay, Mayor Parvesh Wahi, Delhi Government Chief Secretary Rajeev Verma, Delhi Jal Board Chief Executive Officer Dr. Sajjjan Singh Yadav and other senior officials were present on the occasion.

Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh said that through this important initiative, DJB pensioners and their families would have access to cashless medical treatment, making it easier and more convenient for them to avail themselves of healthcare services.

The Mayor said that the initiative reflected the Delhi government's focus on the health and welfare of its employees. Cashless healthcare services, he said, would be an important step towards providing them with better and more accessible medical care.
