New Delhi, 05 October (H.S.):

The Eastern Range of the Delhi Police has busted an extortion and shooting gang allegedly being operated from Dubai and arrested two shooters. The arrests were made in connection with a shooting incident in the national capital that was allegedly carried out at the behest of Dubai-based gangster Rashid Kevalwala.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Eastern Range) Milind Dumbre said the entire operation was carried out with extreme caution on the basis of credible intelligence, following which both accused were arrested. He said the person near whose residence the shooting was carried out had received a threatening call demanding extortion money in August. To intimidate and exert pressure on the victim, Dubai-based gangster Rashid Kevalwala allegedly assigned these shooters to carry out the firing.

The police have recovered weapons and a vehicle allegedly used in the crime from the arrested accused. The seized items include three semi-automatic pistols, 18 live cartridges and a motorcycle without a registration number plate. The police are currently questioning both arrested accused.
