Bhadohi, 4 Oct (HS): Today,
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate the golden jubilee
(50th) edition of India Carpet Expo at Carpet Expo Mart in Bhadohi.
This year celebrates the 50th anniversary of Asia's largest
international handmade carpet trade expo. CM Yogi will launch and lay the
groundwork for Rs. 1,340 crore worth of development projects at Bhadohi. Approximately 430 buyers from 65 countries
will attend the event. Exporters from
Bhadohi, Jaipur, Kashmir, Mirzapur, and Varanasi put up 223 stalls at the
bazaar. CM Yogi remarked that Uttar Pradesh's overall exports had increased by
almost 2.27 times over the last decade, surpassing Rs. 2 lakh crore, with
Bhadohi's carpet sector playing a significant part.
In a post on X, he stated, “Once, Bhadohi's craft was
searching for its own path; today, the government is opening new doors of
development, market, and opportunities for it. The state's exports have nearly
doubled in the last 10 years, surpassing Rs. 2 lakh crore today, making Uttar
Pradesh the country's 5th largest exporting state. Bhadohi's carpets make a
significant contribution to these exports. The same hands that took Bhadohi's
carpets to the world through their craft were waiting for basic facilities and
opportunities before 2017. Today, under the double-engine government, that very
craft is connecting with both development and the global market. The demand for
handcrafted Bhadohi carpets is the highest in the world today, earning respect
for Uttar Pradesh's craft on the global stage.”
“Today, I will inaugurate the golden jubilee edition of
Asia's largest international handcrafted carpet trade fair, 'India Carpet
Expo', and engage in dialogue with exporters, sellers, and entrepreneurs of the
carpet industry. On this occasion, the assembly constituencies of Bhadohi,
Aurai, and Gyanpur will receive the gift of 112 development projects worth more
than Rs. 1,340 crore, and beneficiaries of various schemes will be provided
with benefits. Honoring the artisan's hands, expanding enterprises,
providing employment to the youth, and bringing prosperity to Bhadohi—this is
the new identity of the confluence of heritage and development in the new Uttar
Pradesh,” he added.
