
Bhubaneswar, 04 October (H.S.): Odisha Legislative Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy paid floral tribute to eminent freedom fighter and social reformer Sarala Devi on her death anniversary, describing her as a symbol of women’s empowerment and an enduring source of inspiration.
Padhy offered floral tributes at the statue of Sarala Devi located near the Odisha Legislative Assembly and paid her respects to the distinguished leader.
Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker said Sarala Devi was a pioneering figure in women’s empowerment and served as the first woman legislator in the Odisha Legislative Assembly. She played a significant role in leading the freedom movement in Odisha and worked extensively for women’s education, women’s awakening and the overall development of society.
“Her ideals and spirit of service have always inspired people and will continue to do so,” Padhy said.
On the occasion, Ekamra MLA Babu Singh, senior officials of the Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department, intellectuals and social workers were also present. They paid their respects and recalled the contributions and legacy of Sarala Devi.
