
Guwahati, 04 October (HS): Nagaon witnessed a series of BJP-organised marches across all 2,309 polling booths in the Lok Sabha constituency on Sunday, marking the final day of campaigning for the Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election.
Thousands of BJP workers, supporters and voters participated in the booth-level programmes carrying saffron flags and raising slogans in support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, BJP state president Dilip Saikia, the party and NDA candidate Debashis Sharma.
BJP state president Dilip Saikia, ministers Jayanta Malla Barua and Sashikanta Das took part in programmes at Raha, while NDA candidate Debashis Sharma joined the march at Mairabari. BJP state organisational general secretary Rabindra Raju participated in Nagaon town.
MLA Pradyut Bordoloi attended programmes at Bhotaipathari and Nonoi, while MLA Diplu Ranjan Sarma was present at Samaguri and MLA Ramakanta Deuri participated in programmes in Morigaon. MLA Pallab Lochan Das also joined the campaign in Morigaon, while MLA Rupak Sarma took part in a youth wing bike rally.
Minister Pijush Hazarika addressed several election meetings in the Lahorighat and Jagiroad constituencies in support of Debashis Sharma.
The BJP statement said the large-scale booth-level marches witnessed participation from party workers and members of the public. It described the mobilisation as an indication of strong organisational activity for the NDA campaign ahead of polling.-----------
