Guwahati, 04 October (HS): NDA candidate for the Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election, Debashis Sharma, on Sunday claimed that the BJP-led alliance would win the election without much difficulty, as campaigning for the bypoll came to an end.

Addressing a press conference at the Moirabari Public Library in Morigaon district’s Lahorighat constituency at 3 pm, Sharma appealed to voters to support the BJP in the interest of development and cast their votes in favour of the lotus symbol.

Sharma said that if elected, he would work with sincerity and honesty for the development of the Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency. He also urged voters to accept the “hand of friendship” extended by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma towards the people of the constituency.

Taking a swipe at Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Gaurav Gogoi over his remarks about low attendance at BJP-led alliance election meetings, Sharma advised him to “change the lenses of his spectacles.”

The NDA candidate said efforts must be made to generate hope among the younger generation in the char and chapori areas and secure their future. He further claimed that the Congress was gradually losing ground not only in Nagaon but across the country.

BJP Morigaon district president Ram Prasad Sarkar and several other local party leaders were present at the press conference.-----------
