Goa earmarks Rs 2 crore to boost international charter flights this winter

Panaji, 04 October (H.S.): The Goa government has set aside Rs 2 crore to attract international charter flights during the upcoming winter season, with the initiative aimed at increasing foreign tourist arrivals in the state, Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte said on Sunday.

The funds will be used as an incentive for international charter operators to expand their flight schedules to Goa, the minister said.

According to Khaunte, new and additional air connections are expected to begin from November, with charter services from Russia, Poland, Kazakhstan and the United Kingdom among those being targeted.

The initiative is part of the state's efforts to strengthen international air connectivity during the winter tourism season and encourage more overseas visitors to Goa.

The minister said increased flight operations would also create opportunities for local businesses and communities. He made the remarks in a video statement but did not provide details of the incentive scheme.
