New Delhi, October 4 (HS): Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that Delhi’s Ramlila is a living tradition of faith, culture and the values associated with Lord Rama that have been passed down through generations. She met members of various Ramlila committees in Delhi at the Chief Minister’s Jan Seva Sadan on Sunday.

The Chief Minister said that all the Ramlila committees had invited her to attend their respective events. She said that last year, her government had introduced a single-window system for the timely issuance of No Objection Certificates (NOCs), along with high-level coordination, to facilitate the organisation of Ramlila events. This year, these arrangements are being made more effective, with better coordination being ensured among all concerned departments. Elected representatives will also remain in regular contact with the Ramlila committees.

The Chief Minister said that the Delhi Government is fully committed to ensuring that the story of Lord Rama resonates across the capital with grandeur and dignity, that the organisation of Ramlila events remains smooth, and that this sacred Sanatan tradition continues to grow stronger from one generation to the next. She said, “Rama is our faith, our ideal and the soul of India.”

It is noteworthy that the Delhi Government has constituted three separate special committees for Ramlila, Durga Puja and Chhath Puja, which will be celebrated in the capital in the coming days. These committees will play an important role in reviewing and finalising venues for the respective festivals, as well as monitoring and coordinating essential civic amenities, security, traffic management, sanitation, electricity, medical assistance and other arrangements at the venues.

For Ramlila events to be organised in Delhi, a committee has been constituted to review and finalise venues and preparations. Delhi Minister for Social Welfare, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Welfare, Cooperation and Elections, Ravindra Indraj Singh, has been appointed its chairperson. MLAs Ashok Goel, Anil Kumar Sharma, Shyam Sharma, Sanjay Goel and Sandeep Sehrawat have been included as members of the committee. The Secretary, Revenue-cum-Divisional Commissioner, has been appointed as its member-secretary.

The committee’s primary responsibility is to facilitate the issuance of the necessary NOCs through the concerned District Magistrate’s office under the single-window system. It will also be responsible for ensuring adequate arrangements for drinking water, medical assistance, ambulance services, fire-fighting services, security, mobile toilets, traffic management, sanitation and fogging at Ramlila venues. The committee will also ensure electricity connections and uninterrupted power supply at the event venues.

The committee will also work to promote messages related to environmental protection, Vocal for Local, cleanliness, water conservation, indigenous products, the Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign and other issues of public importance through Ramlila events. In addition, the committee may include any other subject or issue within its scope of work as required.

Separately, a committee has been constituted for Durga Puja and Chhath Puja under the chairmanship of Minister for Art, Culture and Language Kapil Mishra.
