Guwahati, 04 October (HS): The Special Task Force (STF) of Assam has arrested a 31-year-old man from Guwahati for his alleged involvement in espionage-related activities and suspected links with a Pakistan Intelligence Operative (PIO), officials said on Sunday.

Acting on preliminary intelligence received from Gajraj MI, Tezpur, the IGP (STF), Assam, in coordination with the SSP, Sonitpur, developed the information regarding suspected anti-national activities allegedly being carried out by Abhishek Kumar Singh under the instructions of a PIO.

Based on the developed intelligence, the STF conducted an operation during the intervening night of October 3 and 4 and apprehended Singh from a rented house at Gandhinagar under Satgaon Police Station in Guwahati.

Singh, originally from Purvi Champaran district of Bihar, was found in possession of a mobile phone, SIM cards and documents, which were seized during the operation.

Preliminary investigation has indicated his alleged involvement in espionage activities, including the passing of secret information concerning security forces to the Pakistan Intelligence Operative.

The accused has been arrested in connection with STF Police Station Case No. 09/2026. Further investigation into the matter is underway.----------
