
Guwahati, 04 October (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has welcomed the establishment of a Namghar at Gujjar-Nimbalkarwadi in Pune, describing the initiative as a meaningful bridge of devotion, culture and humanity between Assam and Maharashtra.
In a social media post, Sarma said the establishment of the Namghar in the sacred land of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was a significant step towards taking Assam’s spiritual and cultural traditions beyond the state.
The inauguration featured a colourful procession, Sattriya dance performances and Naam-Prasanga as part of the traditional ceremonies. The presence of Dr Pitambar Dev Goswami Prabhu of Majuli’s SriSri Auniati Satra added significance to the occasion.
Several distinguished personalities from Assam and Maharashtra also participated in the inaugural programme.
The Chief Minister appreciated the Pune-based organisation “Sarhad” and the Assamese community residing in Pune for their initiative and contribution towards the establishment of the Namghar.
Sarma expressed hope that such initiatives would further strengthen the spiritual and cultural ties between Assam and Maharashtra and create new bonds between the rich traditions of the two states.----------
