Earlier in the day, PM Modi paid floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the Statue of Unity, commemorating his 151st birth anniversary. The occasion is observed across the country as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day), honouring Patel's pivotal contribution to India's political integration and national unity.
The annual celebrations also featured the Ekta Parade, showcasing the discipline, professionalism and operational capabilities of the Central Armed Police Forces, state police forces and other central security organisations. This year's programme placed particular emphasis on the security forces' efforts to combat Left-Wing Extremism and the transformation of formerly affected regions.
A special theatrical presentation on the theme of Naxal Mukt Bharat, organised by the National School of Drama, brought together approximately 2,000 artists from 126 districts affected by Left-Wing Extremism. The performances portrayed the challenges faced by communities in these areas and their transition towards peace, security and development.
The celebrations also included cultural performances and tableaux highlighting the theme of Vande Mataram, patriotism and India's rich cultural diversity. A grand presentation involving nearly 5,000 artists from across the country showcased the nation's classical and folk traditions through music, dance and other artistic expressions.
