Chennai , 31 Oct (H.S.): Schoolchildren in Ambasamudram in Tamil Nadu’s Tirunelveli district are expected to celebrate Children’s Day with Chief Minister Vijay on November 14, when he is scheduled to visit the constituency.

The government has finalised tenders to purchase cakes for distribution to students across the State as part of the celebrations. Each cake will weigh 45 grams, with suppliers required to comply with stipulated quality standards.

Inspections at the suppliers’ production facilities were scheduled to start on October 26 to assess the quality of the cakes. Officials have been directed to promptly notify the head office of any deficiencies detected during these checks.

The Chief Minister’s proposed Ambasamudram programme comes amid preparations for visits to Assembly constituencies awaiting by-elections. Reports indicate that he will travel to Viralimalai on November 2 and Perundurai on November 3.

His November 14 visit to Ambasamudram is expected to combine the constituency tour with participation in Children’s Day festivities. Details of the venue, the participating schools and the programme are yet to be provided.

The inspection process is intended to ensure that the cakes supplied for the programme meet the required standards before they reach schools. The distribution initiative will coincide with Children’s Day, observed across the country on November 14.

Reports indicate that the Chief Minister is planning similar visits to other constituencies facing by-elections. The proposed engagements in Viralimalai, Perundurai and Ambasamudram place three such constituencies on his November travel schedule.

While the cake procurement process has been completed, further details concerning the number of students covered and the arrangements for distribution have not been specified. The Chief Minister’s reported travel plans and the school celebrations are expected to take shape ahead of November 14.
