Bhubaneswar, 31 October (H.S.): Relief and restoration operations have been intensified in cyclone-affected Aska following the disruption caused by Cyclone Arnab. The situation is gradually improving, with coordinated efforts underway to restore normalcy, Ganjam Collector and District Magistrate Kirti Vasan V. said.
Traffic movement has improved, while 20 autos and 10 tractors have been deployed since Friday evening to distribute relief materials. Most bus services have resumed, and efforts are underway to restore the remaining services. Parked heavy vehicles are also being shifted to create space for relief operations.
To strengthen drinking water supply, 10 tankers and around 30,000 water bottles had been distributed by Friday evening. The number of tankers will be increased to 30–35. Cooked food is being distributed throughout the day, while additional lighting arrangements have been made at various locations. TPSODL has assured restoration of electricity supply by Saturday morning.
Chief Secretary Anu Garg is closely monitoring the situation through regular coordination with the Chief Minister, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), Ganjam Collector and concerned departmental secretaries.
The district administration will continue relief and support measures until normalcy is fully restored, or for at least one week. Further improvements in traffic management, drinking water supply, food distribution and restoration work are expected to ease the situation in Aska.
