New Delhi, 31 October (H.S.): A ‘Run for Unity’ was organised at DAV Public School, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, on Saturday to mark the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India, and National Unity Day. Held under the campaign ‘Drug-Free Youth, Developed India’, the event witnessed enthusiastic participation by young people and students, who came together to promote national unity, integrity, social harmony, a healthy lifestyle and a drug-free society.

Delhi Social Welfare Minister Ravindra Indraj Singh and senior BJP leader and Delhi BJP in-charge Vinay Sahasrabuddhe were present on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Ravindra Indraj Singh said the run was dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who devoted his entire life to the unity and integrity of the country and to nation-building. He said the event was not merely a race but also a message and a source of inspiration for young people.

Describing Sardar Patel as an exemplary leader, the minister said his life and ideals continue to inspire people to work towards safeguarding the country's unity and integrity. This, he added, made the event particularly significant.

Ravindra Indraj Singh said Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's vision of an integrated India continues to inspire every generation to strengthen national unity, integrity and social harmony. The energy, discipline and constructive participation of young people, he observed, are essential foundations for building a strong and developed India.

The programme also highlighted the importance of the physical, mental and social well-being of young people as part of the broader objectives of social welfare. Staying away from substance abuse and adopting a healthy and disciplined lifestyle are essential not only for securing a better future for young people but also for building a healthier and stronger society.

The campaign's message, ‘Drug-Free Youth, Developed India’, seeks to raise awareness among young people and encourage them to contribute to this effort.

Ravindra Indraj Singh said building a drug-free society was a collective responsibility and that the active participation of young people was particularly important in achieving this goal.

Extending his greetings to the people on National Unity Day, the minister called upon citizens to embrace the ideals of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and work towards strengthening national unity, integrity and social cohesion.
