New Delhi, 31 October (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday visited the Central Cottage Industries Corporation of India Limited (CCIC) pavilion during Bharat Parv 2026, organised at Ekta Nagar in Kevadia, Gujarat.
According to the Union Ministry of Textiles, the Prime Minister’s visit provided CCIC with an important opportunity to showcase its rich legacy, longstanding association with artisans and weavers, and sustained efforts to promote India’s traditional handloom and handicraft heritage.
The pavilion highlights the corporation’s initiatives to empower artisans and weavers by providing them with better market access and sustainable livelihood opportunities. Through these efforts, CCIC is actively contributing to the vision of ‘Vocal for Local’ and ‘Local to Global’ by connecting India’s traditional craftsmanship with wider domestic and international markets.
CCIC Managing Director Bimal Gopalachari, along with other officials of the corporation, artisans and weavers, was present at the pavilion during the Prime Minister’s visit.
The pavilion showcases the exceptional skills and craftsmanship of artisans from different parts of the country. Traditional artworks created by artisans from Gujarat using agate and semi-precious stones, along with intricate appliqué work, are among its key attractions.
The exhibition, which celebrates India’s rich artistic and cultural heritage, will remain open to visitors at Ekta Nagar until November 15.
CCIC celebrates the rich and diverse heritage of Indian handloom and handicrafts by bringing together an extensive range of traditional and handcrafted products reflecting the country's exceptional artistry, creativity and craftsmanship. The initiative also highlights the vibrancy of India's cultural legacy and the enduring appeal of its indigenous art forms.
