New Delhi, 31 October (H.S.): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday inaugurated and launched several development projects in the Shalimar Bagh Assembly constituency, aimed at improving civic amenities and enhancing the quality of life of local residents.

She inaugurated two newly constructed Shishu Vatikas (children’s parks) at Nehru Camp in Haiderpur, a newly built public convenience complex in the GP Block Seva Basti in Pitampura, and a renovated public convenience complex in the AO Block Seva Basti in Shalimar Bagh. She also inaugurated the Arpan Kendra at Kasturba Gandhi Polytechnic in Pitampura.

Inaugurating the two Shishu Vatikas at Nehru Camp, the Chief Minister said the facilities had been developed with a range of improvements, including soil filling, grass laying and plantation, construction of footpaths, installation of swings and new benches, painting of grills and gates, provision of a borewell for irrigating plants, and improved lighting arrangements.

She said the development of these parks would provide children in the area with a safe, clean and green environment where they could play and engage in outdoor activities.

While inaugurating the public convenience complex in the GP Block Seva Basti in Pitampura, Gupta said the facility comprised 40 toilets, including 19 for women and 21 for men. It also included six bathing facilities for women and three for men. The new complex, she said, would provide local residents with improved sanitation and essential everyday amenities.

She also dedicated to the public a 49-seat public convenience complex in the AO Block Seva Basti in Shalimar Bagh. The facility has 22 toilets for women and 27 for men, along with four bathing facilities for women and three for men.

Inaugurating the Arpan Kendra at Kasturba Gandhi Polytechnic in Pitampura, Gupta said the initiative aimed to give old and unused clothes a new lease of life, reduce textile waste and promote the circular economy.

She said Delhi’s development was not limited to large-scale projects. True development, she noted, was reflected in the availability of better roads, a clean environment, adequate lighting, safe parks and modern public amenities in people's neighbourhoods.

The Chief Minister said the Delhi Government was continuously working to strengthen civic infrastructure in every Assembly constituency and settlement. She added that the government was committed to ensuring that the benefits of development reached every section of society and every locality without discrimination.
