New Delhi, 30 October (H.S.): In a major setback to expelled Janata Dal (United) MLA Anant Singh, the Supreme Court has cancelled the bail granted to him by the Patna High Court in connection with the murder of Dular Chand Yadav and directed him to surrender before the authorities on or before December 1.

A Bench comprising Justices M.M. Sundresh and Prasanna B. Varale passed the order while hearing a petition seeking cancellation of the relief granted to Anant Singh. The court also directed the Bihar Police to complete the investigation into the murder case within four months and scheduled the matter for further hearing thereafter.

Anant Singh had been arrested on allegations of conspiring to orchestrate Yadav’s murder in October 2025. The Patna High Court granted him bail on March 19, 2026. The Supreme Court’s latest order came on a petition filed by Neeraj Kumar, the grandson of the deceased, challenging the High Court’s decision.

During the hearing, counsel appearing for the petitioner argued that the Patna High Court had failed to adequately consider Anant Singh’s criminal antecedents while granting him bail. The petitioner contended that his criminal history and the seriousness of the alleged offence should have been given due consideration before granting him relief.

The case pertains to the killing of 75-year-old Dular Chand Yadav in Mokama on October 30, 2025, during the campaign for the Bihar Assembly elections. Yadav was a former Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader who was supporting Jan Suraaj Party candidate Piyush Priyadarshi when violence erupted between supporters of rival candidates.
