Mumbai, 30 October (H.S.): A major development has emerged regarding Kannada actor Rishab Shetty’s upcoming historical film on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, with producer Bhushan Kumar joining the ambitious project. Directed by Sandeep Singh, the grand historical drama will be made in two parts and will chronicle the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and his unwavering resolve to establish Swarajya.

The two-part saga aims to bring the Maratha ruler’s remarkable historical journey to the big screen, covering defining battles, landmark victories, extraordinary sacrifices and lesser-known aspects of his life. The filmmakers intend to present his legacy through an expansive cinematic narrative, supported by a large ensemble cast and an experienced technical team.

To mark the collaboration, Bhushan Kumar presented Rishab Shetty with a nearly century-old painting of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The gesture was intended to reflect the team’s reverence for the Maratha ruler and its sense of responsibility in bringing his extraordinary life and legacy to the screen.

According to reports, filming is expected to commence in early 2027, with the project reportedly being mounted on a budget of more than Rs 500 crore. Alongside Shetty, Bhumi Pednekar, Vivek Oberoi and Arjun Rampal are also reported to be associated with significant roles in the film.

The project will be produced under the banners of T-Series Films and Legend Studios. As per the reported release schedule, the first instalment is expected to reach theatres in 2028, followed by the second part in 2029.
