
In the year 2025-26, 92.67 percent of total blood collection
came from voluntary blood donation
Prayagraj, 3 Oct (HS): The blood center at Swarup Rani Nehru
Hospital, Prayagraj, has been ranked second in the state for its outstanding
work in voluntary blood donation. The honor was presented by the State Blood
Transfusion Council at a state-level awards ceremony held on National Voluntary
Blood Donation Day. The ceremony was organized under the auspices of the
Department of Transfusion Medicine, SGPGI, Lucknow.
In 2025-26, 92.67 percent of the center's total blood
collection came from voluntary blood donations. During the same period, 1,325
units of blood were provided to thalassemia patients and 1,249 units to other
critically ill patients without a replacement donor. The blood is used to treat
patients with thalassemia, cancer, pregnant women, and those injured in serious
accidents.
Professor Vatsala Mishra, Head of the Department of
Transfusion Medicine and Head of the Blood Center, said, This achievement
is the result of a collective effort by blood donors, partner organizations,
and the Blood Center staff. Regular voluntary blood donations ensure timely
availability of blood to patients in need. I express my heartfelt gratitude to
all the blood donors and partners.

said, The SRN Hospital Blood Center's second-place finish in the state is
a matter of pride for the entire medical college and Prayagraj. This
recognition reflects the commitment of the Blood Center team and voluntary
blood donors. We appeal to all healthy citizens to come forward for regular
voluntary blood donation. This achievement underscores the continued efforts
of the blood center, blood donors, and partner organizations to ensure safe and
timely access to blood for patients.
