
Lucknow, 3 Oct (HS): Students of classes 9 to 12 in the
state will start receiving scholarships for the financial year 2026-27 from
today. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will launch the state-level scholarship
distribution program at Lok Bhavan and provide scholarship acceptance
certificates to the students. Scholarship funds will be transferred to
students' Aadhaar-linked bank accounts. The program will be broadcast to all
affiliated schools across the state.
In the districts, the District Social Welfare Officer,
Backward Class Welfare Officer and District Minority Welfare Officer, with the
help of the District School Inspector, will distribute scholarship distribution
certificates to the students in the respective schools.
Saturday brought relief to millions of students in Uttar
Pradesh. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will transfer scholarship and fee
reimbursements totaling over Rs. 148 crore to the bank accounts of over 460,000
students today. A program for this purpose is scheduled for 10 a.m. at Lok
Bhavan in Lucknow. According to the government, the funds will be transferred
directly to the students' bank accounts.
This time, scholarship funds are being distributed to
students from different categories. Students from backward classes will benefit
the most. A total of Rs. 60.01 crore will be transferred to the accounts of
223,615 OBC students. 159,959 Scheduled Caste students will receive Rs. 64.54
crore. Additionally, Rs. 11.43 crore has been allocated for 38,084 students
from the general category. 38,901 students from the minority category will
receive scholarships and fee reimbursements totaling Rs. 12.06 crore.
Help will be provided in meeting studies expenses: Scholarships
and fee reimbursements are intended to provide financial assistance to students
who find it difficult to afford fees and other educational expenses. Under this
scheme, eligible students receive funds directly into their bank accounts. The
government says that the scholarship distribution system is now integrated with
a computer system. This has helped streamline the process from application to
disbursement. According to the government, this has resulted in reduced delays
and irregularities in disbursement.
More than 65.95 lakh students benefited in 2025-26: According
to government data, more than 65.95 lakh students have been provided
scholarship and fee reimbursement benefits in the financial year 2025-26. Over Rs.
4,793 crore have been disbursed during this period. This means that the scope
of this scheme is not limited to just a few thousand or lakh students, but a
large number of students across the state are involved.
Previously, the government had decided to reopen the
scholarship portal for students who were denied scholarships due to technical
reasons. According to the department, 3.16 lakh students were unable to receive
scholarships in the financial year 2025-26 due to technical reasons.
Arrangements were made for their re-application and payment.
Scholarship process for the new session has also started: The
scholarship process for the financial year 2026-27 has also been finalized. The
government has set separate dates for application, verification, and transfer
of funds. A system has been put in place to transfer funds directly to the bank
accounts of eligible students.
UP CM mentioned in a post on X, “It is the resolve of the
double-engine government that economic deprivation should not become an
obstacle in the path of a student's education and dreams. In furtherance of
this very resolve, today, an amount exceeding Rs. 148 crore in scholarships/fee
reimbursements will be transferred to the bank accounts of more than 4.60 lakh
students from the lower income group in pre-tenth (Classes 9-10) and post-tenth
classes. This financial assistance will provide strength to education,
opportunities to talent, and a new flight to the dreams of the youth.”
