New Delhi, 03 October (H.S.): Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta on Saturday inaugurated a ‘Seva Setu Camp’ organised at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Sector 8, Rohini, under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’. He said that the real test of good governance lies in how easily and conveniently citizens can access government services. A scheme can be considered meaningful only when information, guidance and necessary assistance reach people without unnecessary hurdles.

The ‘Seva Setu Camp’ has been established as a one-stop facilitation centre for citizens, where information, guidance and necessary assistance related to various services and public welfare schemes of the Delhi Government are being provided at a single location. Soumya Saurabh, District Magistrate of North-West Delhi, was also present on the occasion.

Vijender Gupta interacted with officials from various departments deployed at the camp and reviewed the arrangements made for citizens. He sought information from the officials about the services being provided at the camp and the assistance being extended to citizens. He said that effective public service requires more than merely announcing schemes. It is equally important to ensure that citizens receive clear information about them, have access to simple and convenient mechanisms, and receive timely assistance so that eligible beneficiaries can derive the intended benefits of the schemes.

Various departments and public agencies participated in the camp. These included the Health Department, BSES and TPDDL, Food and Supplies Department, Revenue Department, Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), Department of Women and Child Development, Department of Social Welfare, Delhi Police, Education Department, Labour Department, Delhi Dialogue and Development Commission (DDC), Delhi Jal Board (DJB), Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Department, and Delhi Development Authority (DDA), among others.

The Assembly Speaker also interacted with citizens visiting the camp and sought feedback on their experiences in availing themselves of various services. Vijender Gupta said that such service camps at the local level serve as an effective means of establishing direct communication between citizens and the administration. They also help authorities understand citizens’ problems and requirements and facilitate efforts to forward these issues to the concerned departments for time-bound resolution.
