Guwahati, 03 October (HS): BJP candidate Devashish Sharma has announced that he will file a defamation case against AIUDF chief Maulana Badruddin Ajmal over his recent remarks against him.

Reacting to Ajmal's statements, Sharma said the AIUDF leader had reached an age when he should consider retirement. “Maulana Sahib has grown old. It is time for him to retire. Rather than trying to be a tiger, it is better to retire,” Sharma said.

Sharma also made significant remarks regarding the issue of “push back”, which has emerged as a contentious issue during the ongoing political campaign.

The statements came amid heightened political activity in Nagaon ahead of the Lok Sabha by-election scheduled for October 6. Sharma is among the key candidates in the contest, which has witnessed sharp exchanges between political rivals.-----------
