New Delhi, 03 October (H.S.): As part of its organisational expansion in Uttar Pradesh, former chairman of the Bahraich Nagar Palika Parishad Haji Rehan Khan, senior Mathura leader Ramveer Chaudhary (Phalen), and several other leaders and their supporters joined the Congress on Saturday. Both leaders joined the party along with their supporters in the presence of Rajendra Pal Gautam, national chairman of the Congress Scheduled Castes Department and in-charge of the Uttar Pradesh Congress.
A large number of local body representatives and social workers from Bahraich joined the Congress under the leadership of Haji Rehan Khan. Those who joined included Irshad Ahmad, Sajjan Ahmad, Vishal Kumar, Sunil Kumar and former councillor Anees Khan, among others.
Similarly, a large number of Ramveer Chaudhary (Phalen)’s supporters from the Chhata Assembly constituency in Mathura joined the Congress under his leadership. They included Dhanraj Atri, Yogendra Singh, Tejram, Dharamveer Pradhan and Mahendra Singh Pradhan, among others.
It is noteworthy that, in view of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections and forthcoming organisational challenges, the Congress has been focusing on bringing local-level leaders, former municipal chairpersons and panchayat representatives into the party. The party says this will help strengthen its organisational network down to the booth level.
