Morigaon (Assam), 03 October (HS): Assam Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Anurag Goel on Saturday reviewed the election preparedness of Morigaon district for the ensuing 09-Nagaon Parliamentary Constituency (HPC) Bye-Election 2026.

Goel chaired a review meeting at the Conference Hall of the District Commissioner’s office in the presence of District Commissioner and District Election Officer Srishti Singh and Senior Superintendent of Police Nishant Saurabh.

During the meeting, the CEO reviewed the functioning of various election cells and the deployment and activities of Flying Squad Teams (FSTs) and Static Surveillance Teams (SSTs) for enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct. He also took stock of arrangements for the smooth, free and fair conduct of the bye-election and sought updates from officials on various aspects of election management.

Senior officials of the district administration, including Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad Satyajit Chetia, Co-District Commissioners Anurag Phukan and Hriday Kumar Das, Additional District Commissioners Rakesh Deka, Uday Shankar Dutta and Nilakhi Baishya, Election Officer Gunjana Saikia and Assistant Commissioner Ankita Dutta, attended the meeting.

Later, Goel, accompanied by the District Commissioner and District Election Officer, visited Morigaon College to inspect the designated Strong Room and Counting Centre. He reviewed the arrangements and security measures put in place at the premises.

Senior Superintendent of Police Nishant Saurabh and other senior election and district administration officials were present during the inspection.------------
