New Delhi, 29 October (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday shared a Sanskrit subhashitam highlighting the significance of faith in shaping an individual’s character and personality, emphasising that a person’s beliefs reflect their inherent nature and play a crucial role in determining who they become.
The verse underscores the idea that an individual’s faith is closely aligned with their innate disposition and that their convictions ultimately influence the development of their personality.
The Sanskrit verse shared by the Prime Minister reads:
“सत्त्वानुरूपा सर्वस्य श्रद्धा भवति भारत।
श्रद्धामयोऽयं पुरुषो यो यच्छ्रद्धः स एव सः॥”
The verse may be translated as: “O Bharata, the faith of every individual is in accordance with their inherent nature. A person is shaped by their faith; whatever their faith may be, that is what they become.”
Through this message, the verse conveys the enduring philosophical principle that faith is not merely an expression of belief but also a formative influence on an individual’s thoughts, conduct and character.
PM Modi shared the Sanskrit verse on social media platform X, reiterating its central message about the relationship between personal convictions and the development of one’s identity.
