Plan to establish Bhamashah Bhaav Stabilization Fund

Moradabad, Oct 29 (HS): The Uttar Pradesh government is

running two important schemes through the Horticulture Department in the year

2026-27 with the aim of providing fair prices to potato producing farmers for

their produce, maintaining stability in the price of potatoes and providing

financial assistance to the farmers. These include the scheme for establishment

of Bhamashah Price Stabilization Fund and the scheme for subsidy on storage

charges of potatoes stored in private cold storages. These schemes are being

operated in all the divisions and districts of the state. Applications for this

can be made directly on the designated portal https://potato.uphorticulture.in/

or through the common service center.

Deputy Director Horticulture Dr. Vineet Kumar said that

eligible potato producing farmers can avail the benefits of the schemes by

applying online as per the prescribed conditions and procedure. Under this

scheme, which will be operated in the year 2026-27, the benefit of the scheme

will be payable if the selling price of FAQ quality potatoes (30 to 80 mm) is

less than Rs 700 per quintal and the payment is received by the farmer from the

trader through banking channel.

Under the scheme, a subsidy of 25 per cent of the production cost or the difference between the production cost and the selling price, whichever is lower, will be provided. The benefit will be subject to a maximum cultivated area of two hectares per farmer, standard production of 240 quintals per hectare and an overall limit of 200 quintals per farmer. The maximum subsidy will be Rs. 20,000 per farmer. Farmers cultivating potatoes on leased land will also be eligible.

Under the subsidy scheme for storage charges for potatoes

stored in private cold storages, potato producing farmers storing potatoes in

private cold storages of the state are eligible for subsidy at the rate of Rs

100 per quintal on storage charges. Under the scheme, subsidy is permissible on

maximum 02 hectares of potato planted area and maximum 200 quintals of potatoes

per farmer. The maximum limit of subsidy is fixed at Rs 20,000 per farmer.

Lease holder farmers are also eligible to avail the benefits of the scheme.
