New Delhi, 29 October (H.S.): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a meeting of its general secretaries at its headquarters on Thursday, alongside a high-level meeting focused on its “Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy” campaign. The meeting, chaired by BJP national president Nitin Nabin, was attended by several senior leaders, including Union Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Piyush Goyal, Kiren Rijiju and Mansukh Mandaviya.
The meeting, which lasted approximately two hours, focused on the party’s organisational preparations in view of the INDIA bloc’s rally scheduled to be held at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on November 1, as well as strategies to respond to allegations raised by the Opposition.
According to sources, the meeting reviewed the BJP’s approach to the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Discussions also centred on the framework and implementation of the party’s “Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy” campaign.
The BJP launched a nationwide campaign on Wednesday from Chandni Chowk to address questions raised by the Opposition over the SIR exercise and communicate its position in support of electoral roll purification. The campaign was led by party president Nitin Nabin.
The meeting also deliberated on plans to strengthen public outreach among voters and raise awareness about issues related to the electoral process. The party leadership emphasised the need to intensify organisational efforts to communicate the positions of the government and the Election Commission on the SIR exercise to the public.
The meeting comes amid criticism by several BJP leaders, including Shivraj Singh Chouhan, of the Opposition for questioning constitutional institutions following electoral defeats.
