Guwahati, 29 October (H.S.): Tinsukia, once considered an epicentre of insurgency in Assam, is witnessing a shift towards industrial development with the establishment of a green brick manufacturing plant, marking the district's biggest private investment in 15 years, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said in a social media post on Thursday.

Highlighting the transformation, Sarma said the plant would use silt from the Brahmaputra river to manufacture environmentally friendly building blocks. The facility is expected to produce bricks that could replace around 10 crore conventional red bricks annually.

The project represents a move towards sustainable construction practices while making productive use of river silt, which is often treated as waste. The initiative is also expected to contribute to industrial activity and investment in Tinsukia, a district that has witnessed significant changes over the years.

In his post, the chief minister described the transformation with the phrase “From bullets to bricks”, highlighting the shift from insurgency to development.

Concluding his message with the political slogan, Sarma wrote, “Isiliye ‘Modi Kahin Nahi Jayega’.”----------
